Pumpkin Purgatory Sculpting Class

Mondays, October 20th and October 27th from 5:30 to 8:00pm

Instructor- Carolyn Riley

Cost: $60

Session 1: Required cakes and supplies specific to this project

-1-6 x 2” round cake

-1-7 x 3” round cake or 2-7 x 2” round cakes

-3c buttercream medium consistency

-Cake filling (suggested ganache, buttercream or thick consistency)

-6” round cake board

Homework: to be completed between classes

-Make small pumpkins

-Dust or paint pumpkins as desired

-Make branches

Session 2: make sure to bring all supplies and pieces from session 1 to complete cake

-Triple 10” round board either foil or fondant covered your choice

- 2lbs white fondant (we will color in class)

Sculpting Supplies Bring to Both Sessions:

- 1-Large rolling pin (with bands)

- Variety of knifes- large chef, small paring, exacto, large scalloped slicer or bread

- Tweezers

- Assorted spatulas both large and small

- Wash cloths 1-wet and 1-dry

- Scissors

- 2 cups cornstarch or cornstarch/powdered sugar 50/50 blend

- Scotch tape

- Plastic wrap or press and seal

- Pizza cutter or fondant wheel

- Turntable

- Toothpicks

- Ruler or soft tape measure

- Sharpie

- Assortment of paint brushes

- Coke flat or cookie sheet to transport pieces

- Small container of shortening (2 oz.)

- Disposable plastic bag to take home used supplies

- Wilton 10 piece fondant/gum paste tool set

- Ball tool(s) assortment of sizes

- The mat (fondant rolling sheets) or Wilton roll n cut mat

- Wilton water brush

*modeling chocolate recipe can be found on the Every Baking Moment website

**for sculpting I suggest a dense cake recipe. Any flavor you choose is fine.
